BE THE EGG is my race mantra. It comes from the quote:

“The same boiling water that softens the potato, hardens to egg. It’s about what you’re made of, not the circumstances”.

It is a mantra that represents 3 important things to me:

  1. The guts and determination required to take on new challenges, prepare for most eventualities, yet be open to the gift of failure. 
  2. The grit and resilience you’ll need when the going get tough.
  3. The importance of a holistic approach to training your mind, body and craft.

Because it will be the best return on investment you are ever going to get in cycling. 

  • Your are investing in your health. Health is the greatest wealth. 
  • You are investing in knowledge. Knowledge is power. Power is speed. 
  • You are investing in time. Time is money. Most of my athletes have very busy lives. Use what little time you have to ride your bike. Let me worry about the planning, plotting and perusing.

But realise that paying for a coach alone does not make you faster; putting the hard work in will… 

How do you know which coach is right for you? You may want to find a coach who shares an interest in the type of events and races you are targeting. Some people favour a male coach; others prefer a female coach. Yet another person may simply want a coach who is near. However, at different stages in your development curve as an athlete, other criteria may become more important; plus technology brings us ever closer.

At the end of the day, much comes down to the athlete-coach relationship. Find a coach ‘who get’s you‘, who knows how to work with you, who encourages you to learn, and empowers you to thrive. A coach who makes you question your why, before moving on to what and how

The best way to find out if BE THE EGG CYCLE COACHING is for you, is to get in touch. Let’s have a chat and take it from there.

After you get in touch, we will schedule a phone or Skype call to assess your training history and determine your goals. We will start to outline your training needs, taking into consideration the time you have available to train and what else you need to cram into a busy lifestyle. 

All coaching packages are delivered through the TrainingPeaks platform, where I plan and schedule your season goals and weekly training. It is also where you can upload your completed sessions afterwards and where I will provide feedback directly to the relevant sessions as well as regular feedback on your progress. The amount of communication by other means (email/phone) depends on which coaching level you opt for (see SERVICES). The premium priced packages also include either one or two 1:1 guided rides/practical sessions per 6-month period.

All coaching packages are paid on a monthly basis and are for a minimum of 6 months.

Alternatively, you can pay a one-off fee for a self-managed training plan. After the initial set-up consultation, you complete the plan on your own without further coach contact or input. 

All other services, such as DNAFit testing and analysis, 1:1 training rides, race day strategy consultations or speaker bookings are charged on a one-off basis.
